Well today was my first offical outing with both kids and no help!! Wow, who knew running errands could be such a challenge. To all of you who are veterans at this I salute you.
I began the morning with a ton of confidence and a list of goals. I was going to leave the house by 9:30 am, go to Blockbuster and peacefully swap out our movies, take the kids to a nearby park so Devin could play for a while, and go to WalMart for a few groceries.
Well I left the house well after 10 am. Peacefully swapping the movies was a joke. I had Devin on one of those backpack leash things and Madison in her carrier. Devin ran me from one end of that dang store to the other. Yeah I know pop that butt, trust me I do and it doesn't seem to phase him. After what should have been a 10 minute in and out visit to Blockbuster 30 minutes had passed and I felt myself getting very edgy. After another 10 minutes of strapping kids into the car I was able to sit in the driver's seat and take half a breath before the demands for a Happy Meal and the screams for a bottle began. I nixxed the park idea and headed straight for WalMart.
WalMart, hmm....... I had to of been crazy to think I could tolerate a trip to WalMart. I also should have known that pulling up and there not being a single buggy in the parking lot was a bad sign. So here I am holding Devin's hand (while he tries to break free) and lugging the carrier all the way inside to get a buggy all the while thinking this has got to be a joke because when is there never a buggy in the parking lot. Devin melts down before I can get him in a buggy, he seems to think WalMart has car buggies like Lowes. Thanks alot Lowes!! The rest of the trip was a blur of pleads for happyween things (Halloween), gummies, chips, toys, you name it he "needed" it. Once I finally managed to get everything I needed and say for the ten millionth time to sit on your heiny, I'll probably be making that demand in my sleep tonight, I found a 20 items or less line and got in it. I had 5 items the man in front of me had what looked like 55 items. It was all I could do not to scream "Learn How To Read!!" After another horrible 15 minutes of strapping kids into the car we were ready to go. Yay!!
On the way home I was so exhausted that I caved in and got a Happy Meal so I wouldn't have to fix lunch. Once home Devin kicked back and we ate our lunch. I actually got to finish a meal without Madison waking up to demand bottle, wow!!
So I may feel like I have been ran over by a school bus and starting to seriously question my sanity level but I did survive.
