Gulf Shores

Sunday held a trip to Gulf Shores, AL for all of us. Granny always makes sure to see the beaches when she is here to we decided to make a day of it. Or so we thought.

We left out at 7 am Sunday morning and headed for Gulf Shores. We had our swimsuits, sunblock, towels, toys, snacks, and drinks. We were prepared.

Before we could even get into Alabama we were already making one of many restroom stops. I think we stopped a total of 3 or 4 times on the way there. Wow, I coulnd't imagine driving all the way back to Arkansas and the stops that would be taken, lol. But it wasn't that big of a deal and we made it there before 10 am!

We parked, had a little mass confusion about what to lug across the beach and off we went. Now keep in mind we had been planning this trip since Friday and Devin had been all exicted talking about the beach this and the beach that and lets go to the beach daddy. It was his 2nd or 3rd trip ever to the beach. Yes I know I live on the coast and never take my child to the beach. How dare I do such a thing, lol.

Anyways, after lugging my hippo self across the sand I was ready to fall out but was also excited to get Devin playing in the water. Great photo ops, or so I thought.

We were there less than 5 minutes and Devin was ready to "Go home, please" He put one foot in the water, a wave crashed into him and that was that. Not even Mimi could convince him to get in. He was also a little less than thrilled about the sand and kept fussing about it.

We did manage to get him to have a little fun and stayed out there for a little while, but not long enough to constitute the drive over.

Heaven and Johnny spent the entire time swimming and I stayed up on the sand with Devin trying to convince him to build sandcastles with me and not shred them to pieces. I didn't mind not getting in the water though since I had no swimsuit and was in shorts and a tshirt.
